For us, in Lagos-Nigeria, the Vital Voices Global Mentoring Walk was a day heavy on practicalities and achieving spectacular results!
The mentoring walk kicked off from from the premises of Lonadek Inc. (organisers, supported by the African Women's Entrepreneurship Programme - AWEP) to the Yaba College of Technology. Engagement between the exceptionally experienced ladies in the group and potential mentees (students) began at this point;
At the College, the leading ladies relentlessly pursued a recruitment drive, presenting groups of random students with opportunities for mentorship and/ or a job. A few with vision grabbed the opportunity;
On returning to the starting point, potential mentees studying a plethora of disciplines (Mechanical Engineering, Office Management, Educational Management, Finance, Metallurgical Engineering, Lab Technology, Civil/ Structural Engineering, Communication Arts, Economics, Hospitality Management, the Digital space, and Political Science) made a pitch for their guidance and career needs - and firm matches were made
